How to Brew with a French Press
French Press is the second most popular brewing method, according to a survey of over 1000 customers. It’s a very simple brewing method that requires no paper filters and gives you a rich and delicious taste. It’s an elegant brewing method that’s easy to store when not used. The coffee-to-water ratio is very important for achieving a great cup. You'll want to grind your coffee as you go for the best flavors. At Don Pablo Coffee, we roast when you order it, so your coffee is always fresh. Start with 10 TBS of coarse Subtle Earth Organic Coffee or your favorite coffee and 3.5 cups of water. The optimum temperature for your water is 195˚F for best results.
Steps to brew:
-
Put coarse coffee grounds in French Press
-
Saturate the ground coffee and let it bloom for 3 minutes
-
Pour the remaining water into French Press and give it a light stir
-
Place the lid and gently push down on the plunger
-
Enjoy!
The ideal brew time for French press coffee is between 4-5 minutes. If the coffee is brewed for less time, it will be weak and lack flavor. If brewed for too long, it will become bitter. This is coffee in one of its purest forms. You want to serve the coffee immediately after brewing, and the results are deep, dark, and full of flavors.
