Limited Release: Peru Altura Organic Coffee
This delicious specialty coffee is sourced from the Mendoza region in Amazonas, Peru, cultivated by family-owned farms at elevations of 1,500 to 1800 meters above sea level. These farms are part of the APROEXPORT cooperative, established in 2013 to support coffee producers near Rodríguez de Mendoza. With 356 members managing small plots of two to ten hectares, the cooperative promotes sustainable farming practices and provides training on organic management to enhance both quality and yield.
SHB coffee, or Strictly Hard Bean coffee, is coffee that's grown at an altitude of at least 1,200 meters above sea level. The higher altitude and cooler temperatures cause the coffee fruit to mature more slowly, resulting in denser, harder beans. The coffee is a blend of Typica, Bourbon, and Catimor varieties, processed using the washed method, and grown under strict quality standards with a Grade 1 classification.
In the cup, this coffee offers a delightful flavor profile with light to medium acidity, a smooth, medium body, and sweet notes complemented by subtle hints of fruitiness. It's a testament to the dedication of the cooperative and its members, reflecting the rich terroir and meticulous care taken in its production.
