5 Popular Ways to Brew Don Pablo Coffee

By Don Pablo Coffee

At Don Pablo Coffee, we're proud to produce some of the finest craft coffees, sourcing from authentic small farms throughout Central and South America and using our small-batch artisan roasting process to maximize their amazing flavor profiles.

But great beans are only half the story — the way you brew them matters too. Brewing coffee is both an art and a science, and there are as many approaches as there are premium coffee blends. To help you get the most out of every bag, we rounded up five of the most popular ways coffee lovers brew their cup, along with our recommendations for getting each one right.

1. Traditional Drip Machine The classic way most of us start our morning: load it up, hit brew, and let the machine do the work. Don Pablo loves his Mr. Cofeee maker for a conistantly great cup. For a well-balanced cup, add one level to slightly rounded measuring tablespoon (about 10g) of finely ground coffee — think fine granular sand, not a powder — for each six-ounce cup.

2. French Press
A favorite for its full-bodied, rich flavor. Add 1–2 measuring tablespoons (10–20g) of coarse ground coffee per cup (177ml) of water and adjust to taste. One rule to remember: never add boiling water — let it cool off the boil for a moment first.

3. Pour-Over (Hand Drip)
Don Pablo's Favorite brewing method. He brings his kit when he travels. Made for a slower, more hands on cup. Use 8–10 grams of medium-fine ground coffee per cup, heat your water to 190–195°F (88–90.5°C), pre-soak (or "bloom") the grounds, then slowly pour in a clockwise motion. Adjust to taste.

4. Espresso Machine
For a bold, concentrated shot. Fill your porta-filter to the line with espresso-ground coffee. Getting the grind size just right is what makes or breaks your shot. It's the key to pulling maximum crema.

5. Cold Brew
Smooth, refreshing, and a warm-weather favorite. Steep equal amounts of coarse ground coffee and filtered water in a covered container for 12–24 hours, then strain through cheesecloth or a paper coffee filter and add water to taste.
